How we keep the content accurate
We try to keep every fact on AskMyGP — fees, prices, eligibility rules, schedules, thresholds — checked against official Australian sources rather than written from memory, and kept current as those sources change. A brief outline below, plus what we deliberately won't do.
01 Our commitments
Non-negotiables. Every build, every page.
✓ No medical advice
The site informs. It doesn't advise. For anything about your own health, talk to your GP, pharmacist, or specialist.
✓ Sourced from official Australian sources
Every clinical claim is traced to a primary Australian source (MBS Book, PBS Schedule, ATAGI, RACGP Red Book). Sources are cited on the page so you can verify anything against the original.
✓ No login, no accounts
Ever. No signup wall, no email capture, no OTP. Anything you enter into a tool stays on your device.
✓ Australian sources only
MBS, PBS, NIP, ATAGI, RACGP, Austroads, Services Australia. We don't repackage overseas rules that don't apply here.
✓ Free for everyone — patients and clinicians
Every tool on the site is free forever — no trial, no rate-limit, no paid tools, no subscriptions anywhere.
✓ Checked before it ships
Every page is checked before it goes live, not just when it's first written.
02 How we check facts
Every fee, price, eligibility rule, schedule, and threshold on the site is checked against an official Australian source — government schedules, statutory bodies, and recognised clinical guidelines — rather than written from memory. When a source updates, the affected pages are reviewed and re-checked before anything ships. Where a page states a fact, the citation is on that page.
We'd rather keep the specifics of how that checking works to ourselves — not because there's anything to hide, but because publishing the exact process just makes it easier to copy the process rather than the outcome. Happy to explain our approach to a specific page's accuracy if you ask.
03 What we won't do
Just as important as what we do.
× Diagnose or advise on your health. We're not your GP. Where an answer could affect a clinical decision, the tool tells you to talk to a healthcare professional.
× Feature live AI at runtime. No chatbot, no AI symptom checker, no AI-generated diagnoses or clinical advice served to users. You interact with static, source-verified tools — not a language model.
× Ask you to sign up, log in, or verify an email. Ever. Not for the tools, not for the embeds, not for the widgets.
× Store or sell your health data. Everything you type into a tool stays in your browser. There is no server-side patient database because we don't have one.
× Compete with Healthdirect, MDCalc, or MBS Online. Those services do their jobs well. Our niche is Australian-specific, plain-language, patient-and-GP-facing utilities that sit between them.
× Show programmatic ads inside embed widgets. When a partner embeds our tool on their site, no Journey/Mediavine or third-party ads appear inside the iframe. Their users, their trust.
04 Report an error
If you spot something on the site that looks wrong, misleading, or out-of-date, please tell us. GPs, pharmacists, allied-health professionals, and patients all catch things we miss.
Every credible report gets read personally and, if the finding is confirmed, the fix ships in the next build. There is no bureaucracy, no ticketing system, no "we'll get back to you within 5 business days" template response.
