Every GP spends hours each week explaining things that aren't medicine — fasting rules, Medicare eligibility, how a care plan works, what to bring to an appointment. And every patient forgets half of it before they get home.
AskMyGP gives GPs somewhere to send patients instead of explaining, and gives patients somewhere to check before they arrive. It turns a 3-minute in-consult explanation into a 10-second referral — so the consult can focus on what actually needs a doctor.
These questions are small individually. Together, they consume real clinical time — on both sides of the desk. AskMyGP answers them once, clearly, with the source cited.
AskMyGP is an independent Australian health tools platform — 480+ free clinical tools and guides, used by GPs at the point of care and by patients preparing for care. Built by a practising general practitioner based in Queensland. The site is run by Digital Treasure Pty Ltd (ABN 23 696 816 636 · ACN 696 816 636).
Note: AskMyGP Australia (askmygp.com.au) is a completely separate entity from the UK-based AskMyGP, which is an online triage and consultation software used by GP practices in the NHS. We are not affiliated, connected, or related in any way.
Clinical content — MBS billing references, patient preparation information, calculator logic, and clinical scoring tools — is developed with GP input and checked against primary sources such as the MBS Book, PBS Schedule, and RACGP guidelines. The aim is for information to reflect those sources at the date shown. Tools are general information only and may contain errors or become out of date; always verify against the primary source and your own clinical judgement before relying on any figure or rule. AskMyGP is not owned, controlled, or edited by any pharmaceutical company, device manufacturer, health insurer, or government body. AskMyGP operates independently. Every tool on the site is free — no paid tools, no logins, no subscriptions. The site is funded by Journey by Mediavine advertising (general web advertising, not health-product specific) and — for some content — independent educational grants. No funder, including any pharmaceutical company, device manufacturer, or commercial organisation, has editorial oversight or sign-off, input into our tools or clinical content, or product/brand placement on this site. None of these revenue streams influence editorial content.
Where brand-name medications are mentioned (e.g. Ferinject, Monofer), both products are presented with equivalent prominence and identical clinical framing.

MBS fees are updated at least annually (November and July indexation) and cross-checked against MBS Online. PBS copayments are updated quarterly. NTCER rates and other annually-updated figures are flagged with a verification note linking to the primary source.
