The current Australian Medicare Benefits Schedule listing, with schedule fee and plain-English explanation.
The prescribed medical practitioner (PMP) equivalent of item 703: a time-tiered health assessment for eligible patients, 30 to under 45 minutes of face-to-face time. Time bands and eligibility criteria follow the GP series (701–707); the fee is lower than the GP equivalent ($132.05 here against $165.05 for item 703). There is no PMP version of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health assessment (715), and other medical practitioners (OMPs) cannot claim health assessment items.
From 1 November 2026 (subject to legislation — confirm on MBS Online) items 224–227 are also used for the Medicare Healthy Kids Check: a once-per-child, lifetime health assessment for Medicare-eligible 3-year-olds, with no change to descriptors, fees or co-claiming restrictions.
