What Item 228 is used for

The prescribed medical practitioner (PMP) version of item 715: a health assessment, at consulting rooms or in a place other than a hospital or residential care home, for a patient of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. It must include recognising the patient’s health priorities, history, relevant examinations, any required investigations, an assessment, any necessary interventions and referrals, a documented health plan including follow-up, an offered written report, and a record in the medical records.

Applicable only if this item, or item 715, 92004 or 92011, has not been provided to the patient in the preceding 9 months. Items 92004 (GP) and 92011 (PMP) are the video equivalents — see the Telehealth Attendance Determination.
