What Item 177 is used for

The prescribed medical practitioner (PMP) equivalent of item 699: a 20-minute heart health assessment at consulting rooms for a patient aged 30 or over, with the same required components (history, basic examination including blood pressure and cholesterol, interventions and referrals, management plan, preventative advice).

The same rules apply as for item 699 (explanatory note AN.14.2): once per 12 months, not claimable if another health assessment (other than 715, 228, 92004 or 92011) was provided in the previous 12 months, and not available to hospital in-patients or residential aged care recipients. The schedule fee is lower than the GP item ($69.70 here against $87.10 for item 699).
