There's no separate "Medicare login" website — you log in to your Medicare account through myGov or the Medicare app. Here's exactly how, plus what you can see once you're in: claims history, Safety Net balance, immunisation records, and more.
My Medicare is your personal Medicare account. It lets you check your claims history, track your Safety Net progress, view immunisation records, and manage your Medicare card — all online or through the app.
It replaced the old Medicare online account in 2023 with a redesigned app and simpler interface.
Download from App Store or Google Play.
Sign in with your myGov credentials. Supports Face ID / fingerprint for quick access.
Go to my.gov.au → sign in → click Medicare.
First time? Create a myGov account, then link Medicare as a service.
1. Create a myGov account if you do not have one (email, mobile, password).
2. Sign in and click "Link a service" → select Medicare.
3. You will need: your Medicare card number, your Individual Reference Number (IRN — the number next to your name on the card), and one of the following for identity verification: your bank account details linked to Medicare, a recent Medicare claim, or your date of birth + other details.
4. Once linked, Medicare appears on your myGov dashboard and in the app.
Trouble linking? Call Services Australia on 13 20 11 (Medicare general enquiries).
There's no separate Medicare login site to bookmark — you log in through myGov (my.gov.au) or the Medicare app. Sign in with your myGov username and password (or Face ID/fingerprint in the app), then select Medicare from your linked services.
If Medicare isn't linked to your myGov account yet, sign in to myGov, choose "Link a service", select Medicare, and follow the prompts — you'll need your Medicare card number, Individual Reference Number (IRN), and one identity-verification detail (see "Setting up for the first time" above).
These are two separate systems that are commonly confused:
My Medicare = your Medicare billing account. Shows what you claimed, what Medicare paid, Safety Net balance, immunisations, PBS prescriptions. Accessed via myGov or the Medicare app.
My Health Record = your clinical health information. Shows test results, discharge summaries, specialist letters, medication lists, care plans, uploaded by your doctors. Accessed via myGov or the My Health Record portal.
Both are accessed through myGov, but they are different services with different information. Learn about My Health Record →
No — two different things with confusingly similar names.
My Medicare (this page) = your Medicare account for viewing claims, Safety Net balance, immunisations and your digital card, via myGov or the Medicare app.
MyMedicare = a free, voluntary program where you register with your regular GP or practice for more connected care, including some longer telehealth rebates. It does not change how you view your Medicare account. How to register for MyMedicare →
Yes. If your children are listed on your Medicare card, you can see their claims history, immunisation records, and PBS prescriptions through your My Medicare account. When they turn 15, they can create their own myGov account and manage their own Medicare independently.
Your Medicare number is the 10-digit number on the front of your Medicare card, above your name. You can also view it in the Medicare app or in your Medicare online account through myGov — useful if you don't have your card with you. Each person listed on the card also has their own individual reference number (the single digit shown next to their name).
