What Medicare may cover — by symptom

Select your main symptom area. Your GP accesses all of these — ask at your next appointment.

Prepare for your GP appointment — checklist

Tap each item as you prepare. The more information you bring, the more your GP can do for you.

Write down all your symptoms — when they started, how long you’ve had them, what makes them better or worse
Rate the severity of each symptom (1–10) and how it affects your daily life (work, sleep, exercise, relationships)
Confirm your COVID infection history — when you had COVID, how severe, which variant if known, vaccinations before and after infection
List current medications and supplements — including anything you’re taking for symptoms
Mention your work situation — are symptoms affecting your ability to work? This may be relevant for planning.
Ask specifically about a care plan — if symptoms have lasted 6+ months, ask “Am I eligible for a chronic condition care plan?”
Ask about mental health support — if you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, or cognitive changes, ask “Can I get a Mental Health Treatment Plan?”

Ask your GP: Your GP or a long COVID clinic can advise on trials relevant to your specific symptoms. Not all trials are suitable for everyone — eligibility depends on your symptoms, history, and other factors.
