The display is just a webpage. You need a web browser on the screen, then open askmygp.com.au/waiting-room and press Start display. Here are the common ways, easiest first:
1
A streaming stick (easiest — about $60)
Plug a Amazon Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast, or similar into your TV’s HDMI port. Open its web browser, type the address, press Start. Works on any TV with an HDMI port.
2
A spare laptop or computer (free if you have one)
Connect any laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable. Open Chrome, go to the page, press F11 for full screen. The TV simply shows what’s on the laptop.
3
A smart TV with a built-in browser (free, if your TV has one)
Many Samsung, LG and Android TVs have a web browser app. Open it, type the address, go full screen. (Some smart-TV browsers are a bit clunky — if yours is, use option 1 or 2.)
4
An iPad on a stand (good for the reception desk)
Open Safari, go to the page, tap Start display. To lock it to this one page so it can’t be closed by accident, turn on Guided Access in the iPad’s Accessibility settings.
💡 One thing to check: most TVs and sticks go to sleep after a few minutes of no activity. In the TV or device settings, turn off “auto sleep”, “screen timeout”, or “screensaver” so the display stays up all day.
