PBS Price Checker: What a Prescription Costs

1 min 5 s · Checked 31 October 2026
Text summary of the video
  • Search a medicine by brand or active ingredient (3 letters or more) to see general and concession prices. Brand premiums are shown where the PBS schedule lists one.
  • From 1 January 2026 the general patient co-payment is $25.00 and the concession card co-payment is $7.70. Many common medicines cost less than the co-payment.
  • A brand premium is paid on top of the co-payment and does not count towards the PBS Safety Net.
  • The Safety Net counts spending for a registered family group: you, your partner, dependent children under 16 and dependent full-time students aged 16 to 25. The family group must be registered with Medicare. The Safety Net card lasts until 31 December.
  • Prices are the maximum PBS price at a community pharmacy, and a pharmacy may charge less.
