Australia has RHCAs with 11 countries. Select one below to see what is covered — and what is not.
⚠️
RHCA is not a substitute for travel insurance. RHCAs do not cover repatriation to Australia, ambulance (most countries), dental outside emergency, private care, or full costs. Most require co-payments. Always get travel insurance before travelling, regardless of RHCA. Verify current terms at
servicesaustralia.gov.au before departure.
π Popular destinations with NO agreement. Australia has no Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with the USA, Canada, Indonesia (Bali), Thailand, Japan, China, Singapore, UAE, Fiji or most of Asia and the Pacific. In these countries you pay the full cost of any care, with no subsidy — and US hospital bills in particular can run to tens of thousands of dollars. Travel insurance is essential, not optional, for these destinations.
